Hallo,
It was a great sunny winters day in Melbourne.... I can sense spring is just around the corner and it cant come soon enough. Its been a good weekend - lots of 'being' time after a busy few weeks. I have not made much progress on my Bright Socks quilt, but found a couple of hours this afternoon to beaver away. I'm concerned about how busy this quilt, is but after much debate have decided to embrace its 'out thereness' and not to tone it down. More pictures this week.
Yesterday we found time to go across town to Amitie and picked up some fabrics for my stash from their big sale and some backing and binding fabric to finish Bright Socks. The ladies are lovely and always willing to offer advice. I'm in love with the xmas fabric ... and I'm thinking a xmas quilt is next up. Have a great weekend everyone.

Hi everyone,
As promised some pictures of new fabrics that arrived last week. The first is from Fresh Modern Fabrics and contained a range of Kona Solids in bright, vibrant fabrics to match Goo Goo Socks, Monkey Bizness by Alexander Henry. These socks excited me the first time I saw them, and I have big plans for a fun baby quilt for my brother who with his partner, is expecting their first baby late this year. The socks are super little and super cute, and with the bright solids I reckon this is going to be a great quilt. Just have to finish my Tiffany WIP first!

Also in the mail this week ..... Little Apples!! I have been eyeing this collection for months, and when I heard that I could get it early right here in Australia I just could not help myself. I have started with a Layer cake. The fabric colours are perfect - vibrant and dense in colour. Wow! Its going to take some thought before i cut into these.

My Tiffany quilt is almost done. Just need to finish the binding. Great progress over the weekend.

sunday stash #4

I was super excited this week to receive a parcel in the mail. Amazingly just 5 days after ordering from Hawthorn Threads, with a weekend in between it arrived in Melbourne. Wow is all I can say! I had been stalking Hawthorne Threads for quite some time waiting for this fabric to be released and it was literally a race to sign in to order. I love Christmas fabric and this collection is so fun and in bright colours - love at first sight! How cute are the stockings and owls? I have spent some time staring at the fabric thinking about various designs that might work. I have thinking of a Brick Quilt and find this one inspirational in its colours and fun bright nature. What do you think of using this design? Hope your having a good weekend (ps did I mention that this fabric is super soft?). Thank you Hawthorne Threads!

sunday stash #3

Hi everyone ....
Its been a great weekend with heaps of quilting. This weekend was the annual Australasian Quilting Convention . We are very priviliged to have this event in Melbourne and its a great opportunity to soak up inspiration as well as stock up on some quilting supplies (with over 200 retailers!). Here are a couple of photos of the supplies I picked up.

I was excited to pick up the first fabrics from Threadbear . The purple collection is so yummy and I already have plans to use these in a pillow. On the right is a pack from Ballarat Patchwork . A favourite store of mine, for the bright and modern fabric collection and inspiration. I try to pick up a pack each year and use throughout projects. Last year was a collection of grey, aqua and yellows (a couple of which are used below). Ballarat Patchwork is well worth a visit.

I also made good progress on my new quilt. These are the blocks, cut ready for sewing. By the end of today I have about half the blocks constructed. A great Sunday! Did I mention we had fantastic Autumn weather this weekend? Crisp and bright.
