Hi everyone ....
Its been a great weekend with heaps of quilting. This weekend was the annual Australasian Quilting Convention . We are very priviliged to have this event in Melbourne and its a great opportunity to soak up inspiration as well as stock up on some quilting supplies (with over 200 retailers!). Here are a couple of photos of the supplies I picked up. I was excited to pick up the first fabrics from Threadbear . The purple collection is so yummy and I already have plans to use these in a pillow. On the right is a pack from Ballarat Patchwork . A favourite store of mine, for the bright and modern fabric collection and inspiration. I try to pick up a pack each year and use throughout projects. Last year was a collection of grey, aqua and yellows (a couple of which are used below). Ballarat Patchwork is well worth a visit.
I also made good progress on my new quilt. These are the blocks, cut ready for sewing. By the end of today I have about half the blocks constructed. A great Sunday! Did I mention we had fantastic Autumn weather this weekend? Crisp and bright.
Hope your having a good weekend ....

sunday stash #2
Yah for another Sunday. Dont you just love Sundays .... for me the best day of the week. Sleep in's, Sunday papers, Fresh market shopping, Coffee and a great home cooked dinner (and I love making soup for lunch in Winter!). This week I have cut into these lovely fabrics. The Michael Miller Giraffe Park in Citron is one of those special fabrics I have kept in my stash and I spent a good couple of hours fussy cutting out the great print. More pictures soon ...
I also wanted to show you the first quilt that I completed this month which I gifted to a good friend last weekend. I was in love with the Pea fabric and have made a half yard go a long long way between a couple of projects over the last year - an absolute favourite that I very carefully cut to ensure no wastage. The red fabric is super vibrant and I have had in the stash for about five years ... if I ever come across this again (which unfortunately I never got the name of) I would snap it up in a minute.
Hope your having a good weekend.

sunday stash #1
Today marks my very first sunday stash post. This great collection is Spring Street by Carolyn Gavin. I originally only ordered a couple of fabrics but once it arrived .... well I just could not resist. I love how fun these prints are along with how soft the fabric is. A great addition to the stash.
The combination of houses, bikes, trees and birds make this very special.
These were brought from Hawthorne Threads and SewFreshFabrics.

our last day of daylight savings
For me, today officially marks the end of summer, as tonight we roll back our clocks one hour and loose the precious hour of daylight we all love in the summer months. What better way to finish daylight savings by visiting the Melbourne Garden Show . A morning of green grass, beautiful flowers and inspirational design. I may have driven Andy to distraction talking about the landscaping for our backyard all afternoon. The tulips are wonderful right? I am inspired to find some new fabric this colour.
Tomorrow I will finally be able to post a very special quilt, that I made for a close friend for her wonderful new baby girl, Amelie (such a pretty name).
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.
